Overview
Fire safety at GD International School Sector 92 is engineered into the building design and audited quarterly by a licensed third-party fire-safety consultant. Building features: ISI-marked smoke detectors and manual call points every 10 m in corridors, classrooms and labs; heat detectors in server room and kitchen; 6 automatic wet riser hydrant systems on every landing; 4 fire stairwells with 2-hour fire-rated doors; 120 ABC dry-powder and CO₂ fire extinguishers distributed one per classroom, lab and service areas; 2 automated fire alarm control panels (main + backup with 24 V battery); public address voice-evacuation system; and emergency escape route maps glow-in-the-dark signage at every landing.
Fire drills are conducted once every TWO months, rotating between day time and evening bus-bay timings. The entire school (1,500 students + 200 staff) evacuates to the assembly ground in under 3 minutes — a benchmark we continuously monitor and improve. Mock drills include scenarios for fire in laboratories (chemical spill), kitchen, electrical room and auditorium backstage. Annual fire safety audit certificates are maintained and displayed at Reception per CBSE norms.
